Welcome Interiors & the Ellicott City Historic Showhouse
Linda Welcome is creating the children's room in the Ellicott City Historic Showhouse.
The Ellicott City Historic Showhouse will be held at "The Lawn," a well-preserved example of a private residence constructed in several phases during the middle of the 19th century. It contains aspects of Victorian, Gothic Revival, Italianate and English rural styles - an eclectic mix that reflects the personality of its original owner.
The children's room features a mini library with science, math and nature materials, as well as primers for the children. In the corner is a cottage area for napping.
The science area includes a telescope for stargazing and a spotting scope for nature watching.
The room features a painting and artistic area with a blackboard and easel and a place to build conceptual thought.
The original beautiful wide plank wood floor is adorned with a twisted natural-hued soft fiber area rug in the resting and puppet show areas.
Colors include blues, purples and greens with white accents and hearty fabrics. Furniture includes a wonderful hand-painted cottage bed with matching rocking horse and cabinet.
This is a wonderful light-filled room for parents, grandparents and family to visit, read, and help the little ones with projects.
The Ellicott City Historic Showhouse will be open between September 16 and October 15. The address is 6036 Lawyers Hill Road, Ellicott City.
